Upcoming Panel Discussion: Night of Ideas (Nuit des Idées) @ Webster University

I’ve been invited by the Alliance Française de St. Louis and the Centre Francophone at Webster University to be part of a panel discussion entitled, “Night of Ideas (Nuit des Idées): Saint Louis” on the main campus of Webster University. This forum takes place on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 in Browning Hall - ISB 160 Auditorium from 6:30 to 9:30pm.

The subject of the discussion is “Where is the Lou Headed: Between the Pandemic and the War”. The idea is to share expectations, aspirations, and concerns for the future of St. Louis, from different angles and perspectives, all in light of ongoing events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

I’ll be one of at least 11 people of various professional backgrounds trying to wrestle this subject as we give our views from our given perspectives.

All are welcome to join this event. It will be in English, even though it’s the event of these French speaking organizations here in town. I’m sure that I’ll be dusting off my French for the evening though before and after the formal discussion, so we’ll see if all of my Mandarin studying during the most recent 9 months of the pandemic has impacted my spoken French.

I know that I got on the radar of the Alliance Française after I had the head of the group, Isabelle Heidbreder, as a guest on the program “St. Louis on the Air” in 2021 on St. Louis Public Radio when I was the guest host on the day before Bastille Day. Here’s a link to our discussion from last year where we discussed the historic connections between the St. Louis region AND I had a discussion with one of the curators at the Missouri Botanical Garden that happened to also have an exhibit at the same time about how grapes from Missouri saved the wine industry in Europe.

Feel free to pass this around to any that might want to attend, and maybe I’ll see you there as well. I’ll make a post once we’ve had the event letting you know how it all went.
