Mid-Concert Interview with St. Louis Symphony Orchestra CEO and President, Marie-Hélène Bernard
For Saturday, October 12, 2024, there’s no St. Louis Symphony Orchestra broadcast on St. Louis Public Radio. We’ll be back with a live broadcast for the 2024-25 season next week on October 19.
But for last week’s broadcast on October 5th, I had the chance to sit down and speak with the CEO and President of the symphony, Marie-Hélèn Bernard during the show’s intermission.
By this time in the show, Marie-Hélèn had already talked to the audience in a pre-concert address where she updated everyone on the progress of the Powell Hall construction and refurbishment. And during “halftime” she came to the broadcast booth and talked not only about the renewal of the performance hall and the new addition of the newly-named “Jack C. Taylor Music Center”, but she previewed the coming season for the symphony that Music Director Stéphane Denève has planned and talked about the importance of continued community engagement with the St. Louis area with all sorts of music venue types and styles being played.
Here’s a video version of the audio interview that I got to have with the head of the symphony during last week’s broadcast.
